XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna. James Chau is a journalist, television presenter and opinion maker on HIV/AIDS in China. In this interview he reflects on what stigma means, how it is created and how it is prevented.

Background material

"James Chau is a very important opinion maker in China with his own TV talk show on CCTV in Beijing. James is a dear friend whom I have known since the UNAIDS Young Leaders Seminar at the Google headquarter in Montainview in March 2008, where I was one of the invited elders. I like very much to discuss with him about our mutual experiences in the AIDS movement. This is often very interesting as he, like myself, is a reporter and a journalist with a prime focus on HIV/AIDS and related issues. He is a friend and we keep in contact regularly." - Staffan Hildebrand
