"Dr Robert C Gallo is one of the most important AIDS scientists in the world. He confronted HIV/AIDS at the very beginning in the early 80's as a scientist at the National Cancer Institute, at NIH. He was instrumental in the discovery of HIV in 1983 and also in developing the first HIV test. He is currently Director of the Institute of Human Virology (IHV) in Baltimore, which he also founded, and is still involved in HIV science." - Staffan Hildebrand
