XIX International AIDS Conference. Session "Gender and Science: Shifting the Paradigm in HIV Research" discussing the inclusion of structural and biological gender factors as part of HIV research, and the participation of women living with HIV in clinical trials. Among the speakers are Linda Gail Bekker who is well known in the HIV research field and working at the University of Cape Town, Professor Londa Schiebinger from Stanford University who focuses her work on gender and science, Joy Johnson from the Canada Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Bryan Baugh from the drug company Janssen Therapeutics. In the panel are Heidi Nass from the US based organization AIDS Treatment Activists Coalition (ATAC), Gina Brown from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Microbicide Trials Network (MTN), and others.
