XIX International AIDS Conference in Washington D.C. Interview with Takayuki Ota from The Scripps Research Institute in La Hoia, San Diego. He is part of the Creative and Novel Ideas in HIV Research Grants Program (CNIHR), a IAS and NIH collaboration.

XIX International AIDS Conference. Matias Ostrowski from University of Buenos Aires is part of the CNIHR program lead by IAS and NIH. He is involved in basic research on the cell biology of HIV with the target of creating new ideas for drug development.

This film tells the US story of the AIDS epidemic starting in the early 1980's. Scientists and activists, both pioneers and youths of today, talk about research, prevention, treatment and care. They also discuss stigma, homophobia and poverty as closely related to HIV and AIDS.

In the last part of the interview with Dr Anthony Fauci he reflects on the global HIV/AIDS situation and response. He also compares AIDS to other diseases such as the Bird Flu, and discusses the specific social and socioeconomic factors of HIV/AIDS.

Last part of the interview with the American AIDS activist and founder of Project Inform, Martin Delaney, in 2006. Here he talks about AIDS activism and the different stages of the antiretroviral drug development from AZT to triple combination treatment.

Interview with George Louis, Professor and Director at the division of Vaccine and Research at the Initiative of Human Virology (IHV) in Baltimore. He talks about the current HIV vaccine trials and reflects on the future.
